Filament length ↔ weight converter
Grams to meters and back, cost per meter, and what's left on a spool. Densities come from manufacturer technical data sheets, so the numbers match the material, not a generic guess.

Questions
How many meters of filament are in a 1 kg spool of 1.75 mm PLA?
About 335 meters, using Bambu Lab's published PLA Basic density of 1.24 g/cm³: 1,000 g ÷ (1.24 g/cm³ × 2.405 cm³ per meter of 1.75 mm filament) ≈ 335 m. Real spools vary with the manufacturer's diameter tolerance.
How many grams does 1 meter of 1.75 mm PLA weigh?
About 2.98 g, from a cross-section of 0.02405 cm² × 100 cm × 1.24 g/cm³.
Why do PETG and ABS spools of the same weight hold different lengths?
Density differs by material. At 1.05 g/cm³ (Bambu Lab ABS) a 1 kg spool of 1.75 mm filament holds about 396 m, while at 1.27 g/cm³ (Prusament PETG) it holds about 327 m.
How this is calculated
Cross-section area = π × (diameter ÷ 2)². Grams per meter = area (cm²) × 100 cm × density (g/cm³). Meters = grams ÷ grams per meter.
Filament left = scale reading − empty spool weight. Cost per meter = spool price ÷ (net weight ÷ grams per meter).
Diameter tolerance matters: Prusament specifies ±0.02 mm on 1.75 mm PETG, which moves length by about ±2.3%. Colors and additives (carbon fiber, glitter, wood) change density; use your exact product's data sheet when you have it.
